Community Living

Tourism is one of the primary land-use and income-generating activities in the greater region around Hoedspruit.   Situated between the world famous Kruger National Park and the Blyde River Canyon - the Greenest and the third largest canyon in the world - it is perfectly positioned to offer a wide range of tourism services, facilities, activities and other creative offerings.   Tourism is largely focused around wildlife and safari activities, combined with adventure and outdoors.   The more recent development of community tourism and the promotion of the Shangaan and Pedi lifestyle’s or the opportunity to support and help impoverished communities, is developing enormously and adding a fantastic variation and well rounded holiday experience

Hoedspruit has grown and expanded extensively over the last 10 years or so and as a result, it has developed a wide range of business services and options.    The extent and development of different businesses has resulted in the need for a Chamber of Commerce which is now growing in strength and ability.   In addition, business in Hoedspruit strongly encourages the principle of buying and supporting local in order to encourage the local economy

Regardless of the extensive growth and development that Hoedspruit has undergone in the last 10 years or so, it is still in essence, a small town and centres largely around small town living and a close community lifestyle.     Together with this, are a number of community based organisations either to help within and development the town itself or to group together to help others outside the Hoedspruit borders.   Either way, when visiting our town, you cannot help but notice a send of community and a sense of regional pride.
