The Island River Lodge, nestled on a secluded private island amidst the tranquil waters of the Blyde River, surrounded by lush indigenous trees and flourishing vegetation.
The Island offers a choice of accommodation across 8 units, comprising 4 charming chalets and 4 cozy tents, providing a comfortable retreat for up to 16 guests at a time. For those opting for the self-catering experience, all accommodation types grant access to our communal kitchen (In the tented area), fully equipped
with a stove/oven, fridge-freezer, microwave, coffee- and tea-making facilities, as well as crockery and cutlery. Additionally, guests can enjoy the communal Boma and braai area situated at the tented camp, perfect for relaxed outdoor gatherings. While the tents boast scenic views of the majestic mountains, the chalets offer picturesque vistas of the serene river.
During your stay, guests are welcome to unwind and refresh themselves in the inviting swimming pool located at the main lodge area. For those seeking adventure, the surrounding area offers an array of activities, including scenic walking trails and captivating birdwatching experiences. Keep your eyes peeled for fascinating avian species such as trumpeter hornbills, Pel’s fishing owls, and vibrant kingfishers, among others. Our unique sanctuary seamlessly combines untamed bushveld with the tranquil beauty of riverine landscapes, promising an unforgettable escape for discerning travellers.
Please note that while we provide a serene haven for our guests, our property does not feature an onsite restaurant, bar or shop.
