Tonglen is a hand-built stone and corrugated iron off the grid retreat on a 300-hectare farm outside Dullstroom. It offers self-catering accommodation for up to 13 guests in a three-bedroom stone cottage and four en-suite twin khayas, each with its own fireplace. At its heart is the Dharma Centre, a warm, fire-lit space for meditation, yoga and group retreats. With lamplight, spring water, a labyrinth, a fire circle overlooking the valley and wide open land to walk, Tonglen is a rare place to slow down and truly switch off.
